Buckeye Y Youth information

Buckeye Y Youth Inc. is hosting a summer camp Friday, July 24, at the YMCA’s Camp Clay for area boys and girls ages 5 to 12. Camp check-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, while the event will run until 6 Saturday evening.

Cost of the camp is $15 for non-members and $12 for Buckeye Youth members, with $3 off for each additional sibling. Camp will include swimming or splash pad during open swim on Saturday and the camp also feature crafts, games, a campfire, three meals and snacks. Participants will be camping in the Camp Clay cabin, which has 18 beds that will be given to the first children or adults registering. Everyone else will need to sleep on the floor.

Everyone should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, shoes and socks for hiking, clothing for both warm and cool weather, a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, bug spray, flashlight and personal toiletry items.

Children are expected to obey the rules and cooperate with the supervisors and teen counselors.  Permission slips are located outside the Buckeye Youth office, 147 E. Main St., Suite D, in Van Wert. The slips should be returned to the Buckeye Youth office by Wednesday July 22, with payment and a liability release form that needs to be filled out and signed before the event. Pre-register by calling the office at 419.238.3546 or emailing maryvanwert@aol.com and leaving a message with the child’s name and age and a phone number where a parent can be reached.
