GROVER HILL — A Haviland woman remains in critical condition this morning after she was thrown from her vehicle during a rollover crash that occurred Monday on Ohio 114, approximately two miles east of Grover Hill.

Accident artwork 7-2015Layne Dickerson, 21, remains hospitalized at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, following the crash, which occurred Monday morning.

According to investigating troopers, Dickerson was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer sports utility vehicle west on Ohio 114 when she lost control of the SUV and drove off the right side of the highway.

The vehicle then rolled over several times on the roadway and Dickerson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled over. The Haviland woman sustained serious injuries and was first taken by Grover Hill EMS squad to Grover Hill Elementary School and was transported from there by Samaritan Life Flight helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Route 114 was closed for a short time to clean up the accident site and has now been reopened. The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Grover Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and R & O Towing.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and the crash remains under investigation.

The Patrol encourages all occupants to buckle their seat belts, since they are proven to reduce the risk of serious injuries and death in motor vehicle crashes.
