Delphos Fire & Rescue gets staffing grant

VW independent/submitted information

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) announced that Delphos Fire and Rescue has been awarded $336,840 for staffing by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) — Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Program.

“Firefighters put their lives on the line each day to keep our communities safe; these new federal resources will help ensure that Delphos has the skilled responders and updated resources they need to safely do their jobs,” Brown said. “With so many communities already facing budget shortfalls, critical federal efforts like AFG and SAFER are pivotal in keeping our Ohio cities, towns, and villages safe.”

Delphos Fire and Rescue was awarded this funding as part of round four of the competitive Fiscal Year 2014 AFG-SAFER program announcements.

The SAFER grant program supports the hiring of firefighters and the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters. More information about the program can be found here.
