The Recking Crew is a group of individuals who believe that a strong football program increases community spirit in Van Wert.
Last summer, the Recking Crew assisted the football team and cheerleaders in getting new uniforms. The players and cheerleaders worked more than 2,000 hours volunteering at various Recking Crew fundraising events throughout the community to help raise the funds (over $20,000) for this project in 2014. The Recking Crew is continuing this new tradition to update the football locker rooms in 2015.
The second annual Tailgate Tour Golf Outing is coming up Sunday, August 23. Those who are interested in golfing or sponsoring a hole sign for the outing can register at nwohiobb@hotmail.com or call 419.238.3620. Sponsorships include Platinum ($600), Gold ($500), Silver ($400), Player ($240 a team), and Hole ($100). The scramble will be at Hickory Sticks Golf Club, with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.
Supporters can also purchase a raffle ticket for a Chevrolet Corvette donated by Lee Kinstle GM Sales & Service, with the winning ticket being drawn at halftime of the first Cougar home football game on Friday, September 11. Tickets are $100 and there are only 200 tickets available.

In addition, join in the fun of a cross county color war. Which school can have the dirtiest and most colorful student section? Show your school spirit and get dirty (students are encouraged to wear white clothing, old shoes and musthave sunglasses or some other form of protective eyewear).
The Color War is Friday, August 21, at 6 p.m. at the Van Wert Youth Football Field (old Washington Elementary School site on Prospect Avenue in Van Wert). The cost is $10 per student until August 20 and $15 the day of the event. The Color War is the day of the Van Wert vs. Crestview football scrimmage.
