James Roger Chick
James Roger Chick, 76, of Ohio City and Sun City, Florida, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015, at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born March 19, 1939, in Adolphus, Kentucky, to Samuel Earl and Reba Dell (Miller) Chick, who both preceded him in death. On June 16, 1963, he married the former Janet Tickle, who survives.
Other family members surviving include his daughter, Cara (Scott) Bollenbacher of Celina; two grandchildren, Grant James and Cali Mae Bollenbacher; a sister, Karen (Mike) Bell of Bellefontaine; a brother-in-law, Larry (Sally) Tickle of Ohio City; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim graduated from Indiana Lake High School in 1957 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in business from Bowling Green State University in 1962. He received his Master’s of Science and Education from St. Francis College in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He had worked for Central Insurance Company in Van Wert, Gulf Oil Corporation in Evansville, Indiana, then taught at St. Francis and International Business College in Fort Wayne. He then worked for Blue Cross in Lima and retired in 2005 from Joint Township District Memorial Hospital after 23 years, with 20 years as hospital president/CEO. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Ohio Hospital Association in 2005.
He was a member of the Association for Hospitals and Health Systems, past president of the Western Ohio Hospital Council, past member of the board of trustees of West Central Ohio Health Systems Agency, a former member of the Small and Rural Hospital Committee of the Ohio Hospital Association, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a past speaker at the Ohio Hospital Association convention.
He was past master of Eureka Lodge 592 in Ohio City, past patron of Hyler Chapter 432 in Ohio City and a former member of the St. Marys Rotary Club.
Jim was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf in Florida and spending time with his grandchildren, especially watching all of their ball games.
There will be celebration of Jim’s life from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, August 20, at Hickory Sticks Golf Club south of Van Wert on U.S. 127.
