HAVILAND — The Wayne Trace Lady Linksters hosted Lincolnview and Lima Shawnee at the Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Payne. With storm clouds looming, Raider Coach Al Welch hurried the tri-match along and, eventually, the teams played with nary a raindrop or threat not to complete the match.
The Lady Lancers prevailed in the tri-match by a 201-212-221 team score to defeat the Raiders and Indians. Wayne Trace finished in second.
Leading the way for the Lancers was co-match medalist Makenzie Kraft, who shook of a tough start and fired a 45. Kraft finished the last five holes in two over par.
Macala Ashbaugh was second in scoring for the Lancers, tallying a 50, with McKenzie Davis recording a 52. Marissa Miller completed the scoring with a 54 and Madison Shepherd chipped in with a 60.
The Lady Raiders’ top player, Gracie Gudakunst, matched Kraft’s 45 to take co-match medalist honors. Brooke Sinn followed with a 51 and Gilly Wiseman shot a 54. Rounding out the scoring was Hailey Dempsey, with a 62, while Olivia Klinker shot a 64.
Lima Shawnee had two girls fire a 50. Megan Spainhower and Kylie Smith each accomplished the feat, while Sarah Corwell had a 58 and Raegan Wheeler recorded a 63.
With the victory, the Lancers are 2-0 in matches and 38-15 with Invitationals included. The Lancers will host Coldwater today at Hickory Sticks Golf Club.
