Kenton downs Lady Cougars in tennis

KENTON — The Van Wert girls’ tennis team lost to a tough Kenton squad 4-1 during a Western Buckeye League match played at Kenton on Thursday.
The only Cougar victory came at No. 3 singles, as Emma Verville defeated Abby Hartsham 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
No. 1 singles player Ali Moreland lost to Claire Oates 6-3, 6-0, while Kali Agler was defeated by Kenton’s Kelsey Flowers 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles action, the Lady Cougars’ No. 1 doubles team of Katie Trittschuh and Phoebe Eutsler fell to Kendra Wheeler and Elizabeth Hoene 7-6, 6-4, while Van Wert’s No. 2 doubles team of Jessie Agler and Sierra Blackmore lost to Mariah Stambaugh and Morgan Bauer 6-1, 6-0.
The loss drops the Cougars to 2-3 overall on the year and 1-2 in the WBL.
