Miller keys Knights’ win over Parkway

ROCKFORD — Crestview running back Jordan Miller did most of the damage, running for 105 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns as the Knights won their season opener 12-0 over the Parkway Panthers on Friday.
Miller scored in the second and fourth quarters on runs of 36 and 16 yards, respectively. Miller’s first score came with 1:06 remaining in the first half, while the second and final touchdown came with 8:18 remaining in the game.
The Knights compiled 269 yards of total offense, including 210 rushing yards and 59 yards through the air. Parkway had 263 total yards of offense, with 162 of those coming through the air.
Crestview quarterback Dylan Grandstaff had 39 yards rushing on 15 carries and was 5 of 8 passing for 59 yards and two interceptions. Peyton Hamrick was Parkway’s top rusher with 73 yards on 10 carries, while Panther quarterback Justin Barna was 11 of 24 passing, with no interceptions.
Bailey Rodriguez caught four passes for 54 yards to lead Parkway in receptions, while Jensen Riley caught one pass for 42 yards and Caden May had three catches for 38 yards for the Panthers.
Wade Sheets led Crestview in receptions with one catch for 32 yards.
