Cougar volleyball team loses to Kalida

The Van Wert varsity volleyball team lost to Kalida in four sets by scores of 26-24, 23-25, 17-25 and 23-25 on Tuesday evening.
For Van Wert, Landrie Koontz and Peyton Fleming were both 16 for 17 serving and Karli Turnwald led the team with four aces. Megan Spray was 67-of-68 setting, with 24 assists, while Koontz, Emma Kohn and Fleming had 12, 11 and 9 kills, respectively.
Kohn had 11 digs while Fleming contributed 10. Van Wert is now 1-3 on the season.
The Cougar junior varsity team also lost to Kalida in two sets to go to 3-1 on the season.
Both the varsity and junior varsity teams will be in action Thursday as they host Western Buckeye League foe St. Marys at 5:30 p.m.
