Health groups promote fitness challenge
VW independent/submitted information
Various health organizations throughout Van Wert have teamed together for a communitywide health and fitness challenge. The challenge, which has been dubbed “Live Healthy Van Wert!”, is a 20-week program to promote healthier living and to reduce and prevent obesity in our community.
No matter where participants are in their journey, this challenge is designed to help everyone find success on their path to a healthier lifestyle. Residents of Van Wert and the surrounding areas are invited to participate.
The cost for the challenge is $20 and participants will receive ongoing support from local wellness professionals; optional education sessions on goal setting, nutrition, exercise, and stress; special fitness classes; online resources and chances to win prizes for participating and achieving their goals. Participants must be age 12 or older.
Registration for “Live Healthy Van Wert” will be at the Health Aware Fair on Saturday, September 12, from 7-11 a.m. at Van Wert Elementary School. All participants who register for the challenge will receive a private assessment at the beginning and end of the challenge that will include height, weight, waist and hip measurements and blood pressure.
Those who want to participate, but are unable to attend the Health Aware Fair, may sign up at one of the sponsoring organizations from September 14-18. The challenge will be from September 12-January 30.
“Live Healthy Van Wert!” is sponsored by Van Wert County Hospital, Gen-X Training Studio, Gaylord E. Leslie Wellness Center, Van Wert YMCA, and the YWCA of Van Wert County.
