VW volleyball team loses to St. Marys

The Van Wert varsity volleyball team lost its opening Western Buckeye League match in three sets to St. Marys by scores of 11-25, 8-25 and 17-25 on Thursday.

For the Lady Cougars, Ella Butler was 7/8 serving; Megan Spray was 68/70 setting, with five assists; Landrie Koontz and Emma Kohn each had five kills on the evening and Koontz contributed five digs.

Van Wert’s varsity is now 1-4 on the season.

The Cougar junior varsity team lost to St. Marys in two sets and is now 3-2 on the season.

Van Wert’s varsity and JV teams will next be in action on Tuesday in a match played at Ottoville.
