Velma G. Hirsch

Velma G. Hirsch, 92, of Van Wert, passed away at 4:17 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born March 25, 1923, in Van Wert, a daughter of William and Helen (Clouse) Hughes, who both preceded her in death. Her husband, Nelson Hirsch, died January 5, 2000.

She is survived by a brother, Billy D. Hughes of Van Wert; one sister, Betty Lloyd of Van Wert; and five nieces and nephews, Sandra Dull, James Lloyd, Dan Lloyd, Angie Hughes and Tom Hughes.

A sister, Alice Dull, also preceded her in death.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert, and was for many years a volunteer seamstress at Van Wert County Hospital. She also had loved to crochet and sold many of her projects to aid her church. She also was  very interested in looking for, and collecting, Indian arrowheads. She also spent a great deal of time gardening.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 10, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Scott Campbell officiating.

Calling hours are from noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
