Lewis Melbert Linton

Lewis Melbert Linton, 88, of Ridge Township, died at 5:38 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born January 31, 1927, in Pleasant Township, the son of Marion Russell and Marguerite Kathryn (Reed) Linton, who both preceded him in death. On June 6, 1945, he married the former Elizabeth Annette “Betty” Lauck, who died January 1, 2015.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Judy Linton of Van Wert; two brothers, John R. (Karen) Linton of Van Wert and Paul D. (Rita) Linton of Celina; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Three children, Vicky Linton, Kenneth Linton and Rose Mary Engel; two brothers, David Reed Linton and Russell Junior Linton; and two sisters, Mary Alice Thomas and Elenora Rank, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Tim Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.
