Red Cross to unveil new area ER vehicle
American Red Cross information
The American Red Cross of West Central Ohio will be unveiling a new Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) on Thursday, September 17, at Eaton Corporation in Van Wert. The unit was donated by Eaton Corporation and outfitted with special assistance from Braun Industries.
A ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Van Wert Eaton Corporation plant, 1225 W. Main St. Tours of the new unit will be available, while information on joining the Red Cross as a Disaster Services volunteer will also be presented. The public is welcome to attend.
“This unit will help us respond faster and more efficiently in times of disaster,” said Mark Klausing, a Van Wert Red Cross Disaster Services volunteer leader. “With the capabilities it provides, we can provide canteen services to first responders on the scene and work with those affected by disasters to assess their immediate needs and provide help right away”.
“What a great contribution Eaton and Braun have made to help the Red Cross respond to disasters,” said Red Cross West Central Ohio interim Executive Director Todd James. “This was truly a collaborative effort between local Red Cross volunteers and two local companies to meet a need in the community.”
The new Red Cross ERV will be stationed at the Red Cross office in Van Wert and is available to respond to calls for help in Van Wert County and throughout west central Ohio.
