VW v-ball team splits with Bryan, Raiders

The Van Wert varsity volleyball team split its tri-match Saturday with Bryan and Wayne Trace. Van Wert lost to Bryan in three sets: 25-22, 20-25 and 18-25.

For Van Wert, Megan Spray was 13 for 14 serving with an ace and Domonique Grothause added three aces. Spray was 77-84 setting, with 29 assists. Ella Butler and Emma Kohn each had 11 kills and Peyton Fleming added nine.

Van Wert then defeated Wayne Trace in two sets: 25-18 and 25-21.   Fleming was 11-11 serving with four aces. Spray was 35-39 setting, with 13 assists. Kohn led Van Wert with nine kills, while Landrie Koontz added six kills and Fleming was 7-8 attacking, with five kills.

Van Wert moves to 3-9 on the season and will play Crestview at home this evening.

The Van Wert junior varsity team beat both Bryan and Wayne Trace 25-21, 25-23 and 25-19, 25-21, respectively.

The JV record now stands at 8-4 on the season.
