Knights rally to beat Cougs in volleyball

Crestview and Van Wert volleyball information

The Crestview varsity volleyball team spotted Van Wert two games, but then rallied to defeat the Lady Cougars in five games, 24-26, 15-25, 25-22, 25-23, and 15-12.

Crestview is now 7-5 overall and will next play today at Lincolnview. Van Wert falls to 3-10 overall and will next play Elida at home on Thursday.

Leading the way for the Knights:

Serving — Maci Baker, 14/14 with one ace; Ashley Dealey, 10/11 with four aces; Abby Bagley, 12/12 with one ace; Lyvia Black, two aces.

Hitting — Haley Helm and Claire Zaleski, seven kills each; Brady Guest and Dealey, five kills each; Ally McCoy, three kills.

Setting — Bagley, 12 assists; Guest, 14 assists.

Digs — Tianna Rager, 22 digs; Zaleski, 14 digs; Guest, 10 digs.

Blocks — Maci Baker led with five stuff blocks.

Leading Van Wert:

Serving — Landrie Koontz, 21/22; Peyton Fleming, 18/19 serving; Domonique Grothause, 16/17.

Setting — 56/60, with nine assists.

Blocks — Ella Butler, seven solo blocks; Fleming, six block assists.

Hitting — Fleming, 29/35, with 11 kills; Butler, 13 kills; Emma Kohn, nine kills.

The Van Wert junior varsity team defeated the Knight JVs in two games, 25-15, 25-23.

The Cougar JVs are now 9-4 on the season.
