Wilmer Bernel Bowers

Wilmer Bernel Bowers, 95, of Convoy, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born August 15, 1920, in Huntington, Indiana, the son of Samuel Howard and Flossie Lulu (Ingmire) Bowers, who both preceded him in death. On January 3, 1942, he married the former Vivian Mary Owens, who died December 3, 2003.

Survivors include a son, Keith W. Bowers of Convoy; one sister, Eileen Cleary of Fort Wayne, Indiana; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Samuel Bowers Jr. and Walter Bowers; and a sister, Bernice Coble, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 3, at Convoy United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Melissa Steinecker officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with graveside military honors rendered by American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.
