EDGERTON — The Lincolnview Lancer cross country teams competed in the Edgerton Invitational this past Saturday. The girls’ team came away with the championship trophy, placing six runners in the top 25 of the race. The boys lost to host Edgerton by just four points to take home the runner-up trophy, despite placing five runners in the top 16 of the race.
The girls were led by Anna Gorman, who placed seventh overall (20:58). She was followed by three freshmen: Rylee Byrne in eighth (21:05), Brayden Langdon in 11th (21:26) and Madeline Snyder in 12th (21:31). Rounding out the scoring was Alena Looser in 16th(21:55), Abbie Enyart in 23rd (22:13) and Trinity Welch in 28th place (22:25). The girls’ team beat host Edgerton by 30 points.

“The girls ran one of their better team races today,” said Lincolnview Coach Matt Langdon. “We didn’t have a perfect day, but we definitely took steps in the right direction.
“Our pack time is starting to close and that will be a key for us going into conference and tournament,” Langdon added. “I liked how we moved during the race and never looked worried. They just kept making their way up in the race.”
The boys ran a very competitive race against host Edgerton, whose first two runners placed first and second in the race, yet the Lancers were able to make the final result very close, 43-47. Leading the Lancers was Trevor Neate, who placed fifth overall in a time of 17:20. He was followed closely by Austin Elick in sixth place in a time of 17:25. Rounding out the scoring were three freshmen: Alek Bowersock placed ninth (17:39), Jacob Keysor placed 11th (17:43), and Karter Tow placed 16th (17:52).
“The boys ran well today; Edgerton just ran better,” said Coach Langdon. “I think it was a good reminder for the boys that everyone is racing to beat them.
“We see Edgerton in tournament and they are a team we are going to need to beat to advance,” Langdon added. “We are missing a couple of our varsity runners, but that is the nature of the sport. We don’t know when or if we get those kids back. In the meantime, we have to all run a little better to make up for that.”
