Walter D. Thompson

Walter D. Thompson, 90, of Van Wert, died at 2:08 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born December 8, 1924, in Van Wert County, the son of Walter L. and Bessie M. (Miller) Thompson, who both preceded him in death. On October 19, 1969, he married Thelma (Gephart) Thompson, who survives.

Other survivors include a close friend, Rob Sites of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

A sister, Hannah Carpenter, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10, at The Apostolic Church in Van Wert, with Pastor Robert Frake officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City, where graveside military honors will be rendered by Harvey Lewis American Legion Post 346 in Ohio City.

Calling hours are from 2-7 p.m. Friday, October 9, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
