VW Photography Club news 10/7/15

By Rex Dolby

The Van Wert Photography Club will meet Thursday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. at 114 S. Race St.  Members who attended either, or both, recent photo shoots are invited to put five of their best shots (10 if you went on both shoots) on a flash drive for projection and discussion.  Both the Black Pine Animal Sanctuary on Sept. 20 and the 13th Annual Woodland Indian Celebration on Sept. 26 should produce some outstanding shooting results not usually available to a photographer.

Members are asked to bring ideas for future photo shoots that they have experienced or heard about that others also might like.  A report on the application for non-profit incorporation will be given.

The photography club welcomes visitors to attend its meetings.

There are two area photography exhibits that will be of interest.  Closest is Wassenberg’s 38th Annual Photography Exhibit, which opens Sunday, Oct. 11, from 1-5 p.m., and closes Nov. 8.  Located at 214 South Washington St. in Van Wert, the exhibit will be open from 1-5 p.m. daily Tuesday – Sunday. (Closed on Mondays)  Admission is free.

The second is the Fort Wayne Museum of Art’s new biennial exhibition featuring prominent invited artists and juried entrants with the intention of showcasing the finest photography being created or exhibited in the nation. Located at 311 E. Main St. in Ft. Wayne, the exhibit will close Jan. 3, 2016. Exhibit hours are: Sun. 12-5, Tues. – Sat. 10-6, and Thurs. 10-8 (Closed Holidays) There is a $7 admission fee for adults and $5 for seniors and students.
