Council on Aging plans Medicare meeting

As most older area residents are probably aware, the Medicare open enrollment season is from October 15 through December 7.
“Don’t be alarmed or overwhelmed by all of the Medicare information that may be flooding your mailbox or television screens,” said Kevin Matthews, executive director of the Van Wert County Council on Aging

The Van Wert County Council on Aging will host the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program at the Van Wert Senior Center, 220 Fox Road, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 13. The session will open with an approximately hour-long informational discussion.  Following the discussion, representatives will be available to provide one-on-one counseling for those that are interested.

“Please understand that this is not a sponsored event and no items are being sold or pushed on consumers,” says Matthews.

All representatives are trained and certified through the Ohio Department of Insurance and will be able to provide information specific to each person’s needs. This includes all aspects of Medicare, changing of plans, claim issues, and any questions regarding insurance.

Those unable to make it to this session can call the Council on Aging to arrange a meeting at a date and time that better accommodates area residents’ schedules. To make an appointment for a one-on-one session, call 419.238.5011 or stop in at the Senior Center. The session will attempt to help everyone, including last-minute sign-ups or attendees.

The Van Wert County Council on Aging is partially funded by the Van Wert County Foundation and United Way of Van Wert County.
