Roger L. Wolford
Roger L. Wolford, 71, of Van Wert, went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a courageous three-year battle with leukemia at 4:04 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born in Van Wert, the son of Roscoe D. and Alva (Taylor) Wolford, who both preceded him in death. On July 30, 1966, he married JoAnne C. (Christy) Wolford, who survives him in Van Wert.
Other survivors include his son, Roger Aaron (Kim) Wolford of Lansing, Michigan; four brothers, Phil (Mary Lou) Wolford of Pueblo West, Colorado, Duane (Betty) Wolford and Dick Wolford, both of Van Wert, and Fred (Pat) Wolford of Lima; a sister-in-law, Joyce Wolford of Payne; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
Two brothers, Robert Conley and LeRoy Wolford; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Corman and Rebecca Wolford, also preceded him in death.
Roger was a design engineer at Eaton Corporation, retiring in 2001 after 36 years of service.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, a member of the former St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Van Wert, where he served as senior warden for 20 years, and was also a member of the Ohio State Alumni Club of Van Wert and Paulding County.
Roger was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, having served his country from 1961 until 1965.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, at First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Gus Christo-Baker and Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County, with military honors rendered by combined units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Monday, October 19, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the church.
Preferred memorials: Community Health Professionals-Hospice or the James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University.
