Little Shop of Horrors logo 10-2015This comedy/rock musical is one of the longest running off-Broadway shows of all time. The story takes place at a run-down flower shop in an area of the city called Skid Row. When the hapless floral shop clerk Seymour Krelborn, played by Skyler Whitaker, stumbles on an exotic new plant, he and his co-workers quickly discover this odd looking plant might be the future pathway to success for the Skid Row flower shop. He names the Venus flytrap plant Audrey II in honor of the quirky and lovely store clerk he has a crush on, played by Lainie Jones.

The problem for Seymour is the plant depends on blood for survival. Seymour relies on his own blood to feed the plant, but that eventually is not enough for the blood-sucking growing plant that wants to dominate the world. Enjoying the new fame and attention created by his plant, Seymour must decide if he will sacrifice it all to save the world. Funny, creepy situations abound, along with a variety of music. The Audrey II puppet plants will amaze the audience as they talk, sing, and eat people. Audience members will be entertained by seeing this musical production.

“The students have been working very hard with their lines, music, acting, set building, and botany to make this a spectacular show,” said Director Chad Kraner.

Taite McKinney returns to the stage as Orin, the maniacal dentist, and the audience won’t want to miss his hilarious obsession with pain. Other cast members include Chandler Adams as Mr. Mushnik, Braxton Matthews as the voice of Audrey II and Josh England is the plant puppeteer. The Greek Chorus members, which include Allison Berryman as Ronette, Ryanne DuCheney as Crystal and Claira Rhoades as Chiffon, supported by Kaylee Hobbs, Miah Katalenas, Angel Proctor and Abby Enyart, add to the down and under mood of Skid Row.

The city dwellers include Nick Motycka, Louie Crow, Draya Rison, Dylan Neate, Makenzie Kraft, Lakin Clemmons, Kathy Tate, Storm Whitaker, Ashton Hilleary, Jayna Roberts, and Hattie Bouillon.

Dylan Neate also serves as the stage manager, along with his crew of Makenzie Kraft, Hunter Maunz, Noah Daeger (sound), Hayley Pollock (lights), and Jayna Roberts (house manager).

Kraner directs, with Stacie Korte as director of music, Dee Fisher as music accompanist and vocal coach, Kim Pollock as choreographer, and Kinsey Miller as the set artist.

Tickets are on sale by calling 419.968.2214, extension 3242, or by emailing lincolnviewdrama@gmail.com.

Plan now to attend an evening or afternoon at the theatre by seeing the production of Little Shop of Horrors. It will definitely be a time of comical, fun entertainment, and a show to remember.
