William R. Thomas

William R. Thomas, 86, formerly of Lima, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hearth & Home in Van Wert.

He was born September 18, 1929, in Grover Hill, the son of William McKinley and Leona Pearl (McClure) Thomas, who both preceded him in death. In 1960, he married the former Ruth Ley, who died August 17, 2002.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Karen Gerret; two sisters, Olive Scherer and Donna Adams, both of Grover Hill; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

Two sisters, Rheba Miller and Betty Koenig, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, November 29, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Eileen Kochensparger officiating. Burial will take place Monday morning, November 30, in Middle Creek Cemetery near Grover Hill.

Calling hours are from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
