Cougar swimmers lose to Celina squad

Van Wert swim team information

The Van Wert High School boys and girls swimming teams hosted Celina High School to compete in a dual meet. The Celina Bulldogs were victorious over both Cougar teams: the girls by a score of 119-99 and boys by a score of 153-57.

Van Wert swimmers placing first in individual events included Joe Linser (50-meter freestyle), Haley Richardson (400-meter freestyle) and Madison Turnwald (50-meter freestyle).

One Van Wert relay team finished in first place in a time of 2:11.21: the 200-meter freestyle team, comprised of Bethany Fast, Madison Turnwald, Richardson, and Peyton Fleming.

The Cougar swimmers will compete again Saturday, when they travel to the Auglaize-Mercer YMCA for the Celina Sprint Invitational.
