WASHINGTON, D.C. — Local dentist Dr. Kevin M. Laing of Van Wert was inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists during its 86th annual convocation in Washington in early November.

The International College of Dentists (ICD) is the world’s oldest and largest honor society for dentists, established in 1928 with more than 11,000 members (designated as Fellows). Fewer than 4 percent of all dentists are thus recognized.

Fellowship in the College of Dentists is by invitation only and is granted in recognition of an individual dentist’s “outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service and dedication to the continued progress of dentistry for the benefit of humankind.”

Prior to being recognized as a Fellow of the ICD, a candidate’s qualifications and achievements are evaluated by a series of credential committees in order to insure that he or she is deserving of this honor and will live up to the ICD motto of “Recognizing Service as well as the Opportunity to Serve”.
