County auditor has dog licenses for sale

Van Wert County Auditor Nancy Dixon reminds county residents that 2016 dog licenses are now on sale.

Dog licenses can be obtained at the Auditor’s Office, Room 205 in the County Courthouse, or the following county locations:

• Hall Lumber Company, 122 S. Main St., Convoy.
• The Ramblers Roost Truck Stop on East Lincoln Highway.
• Van Wert Animal Clinic (Dr. Wilkins) on East Lincoln Highway.
• Van Wert Veterinary Clinic (Dr. Trapp) on Van Wert-Decatur Road.
• Ohio City Express, 511 W. Carmean St., Ohio City.
• Ace Hardware, 242 N. Main St., Delphos.
• Emme Lu’s Pet Wellness Center LLC, 706 W. Ervin Road.
• Dog House Grooming & Supplies, 117 N. Washington St.
• J & A Merchandising, 200 Walcott St., Willshire.

A stamped, self-addressed envelope and the proper fee must accompany applications sent by mail. Those purchasing a tag at one of the above locations should take their application with them, if they received one in the mail.

The cost of individual dog licenses is $15 per tag, with a penalty of $15 per one-year tag assessed for licenses purchased for dogs 3 months of age or older after January 31, 2016.

Kennel licenses are $75 for five tags, with extra tags $1 apiece. The penalty for kennel licenses is $75 if purchased after January 31, 2016.

All dogs 3 months old or older require a license. Dog tags may also be ordered online from December 1 through January 31, 2016, only at www.doglicenses.us/oh/vanwert/.
