Teen charged with shooting truck window

A 13-year-old Van Wert boy has been charged after he allegedly used a BB gun to shoot out the window of a semi tractor-trailer truck in the 100 block of South Washington Street on December 23.

The juvenile faces a charge of criminal damaging, a misdemeanor of the first degree, in connection with the incident. He will appear in Van Wert County Juvenile Court at a later date on the charge.

A portion of Washington Street was closed for 1½ hours so that officers from the Van Wert Police Department, Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office could complete their investigation into the incident.

No one was injured in the shooting incident.
