ROCKFORD — The Lincolnview Lady Lancers were held scoreless in the final quarter of their Chatt Insurance Holiday Tournament semifinal game against Dayton Dunbar, but still managed to eke out a 32-29 win over the Lady Wolverines to earn a berth in the finals against Delphos Jefferson.

The Lancers controlled the tempo of the game and led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, while outscoring Dunbar 13-6 in the second period to take a 10-point lead, 23-13, at halftime.

Lincolnview was up by 11, 32-21, at the three-quarter mark, and then held on in the final stanza to get the victory.

Neither team shot well from the field, with the Lancers 12 of 32 (37 percent), including 0-for-7 shooting from behind the arc. Dunbar made only 11 of 46 field goal attempts (23 percent), including 1 for 13 from three-point range.

Both teams made half of their free throws, but Lincolnview had more attempts (8 of 16), versus the Lady Wolverines (6 of 12).

The taller Dunbar team outrebounded the Lady Lancers 34-21, while Lincolnview also had more turnovers, 20-10, than the Wolverines, but still managed to win the most important stat: the final score.

Lincolnview’s Lakin Brant was the only player in double figures in the low-scoring game. Brant had 10 points, while teammate Alena Looser scored 9 points in the contest.

The Lancers will now play Delphos Jefferson in the tournament finals. The Lady Wildcats defeated Parkway 49-47.
