Doris R. Jones

Doris R. Jones, 82, of Tipp City, passed away peacefully Monday, January 4, 2016, at SpringMeade Health Center following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on May 18, 1933, in Piqua, to Carl and Luella (Stangle) Kipp. She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her loving husband, Zay Jones, on August 4, 2015.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Annette (Paul) Hoverman of Van Wert, and Diana (Peter) Chatigny of Hudson; sisters Norma (James “Mac”) McElroy of Piqua and Dorothy Cooper of Kettering; grandchildren Kristen (Aaron) Gillespie, Tim (Jordon) Hoverman, Jacob Hoverman, Joseph Elicson, Catherine Elicson, Christopher (Chelsea) Chatigny, and Aaron (Chelsea) Chatigny; and two great-grandchildren, Aria and Athena Chatigny.

Doris was a faithful member of Tipp City United Methodist Church, singing in the choir for 42 years and actively involved in the United Methodist Women’s organization and Alpha Sunday School Class. She volunteered at the Clothesline in Tipp City, serving in this ministry alongside many of her friends. She also worked at the Miami County voting polls for over 30 years. She was lovingly devoted to her family and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.  Monday, January 11, at Tipp City United Methodist Church, 8 W. Main St. in Tipp City, with Pastor Bonita Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. 

Calling hours are from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, January 10, at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St. in Tipp City, and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Preferred memorials may be made in loving memory of Doris to Hospice of Miami County or the United Methodist Memorial Fund.
