Frigid temperatures freeze VW County

While winter has been mostly mild this year, thanks to a strong El Nino weather system, Sunday began a weeklong cycle of frigid temperatures and wind chills into the minus numbers.
The National Weather Service has a wind child advisory in effect until noon today, with temperatures slowly dropping all day, along with snow showers, and winds up to 25 mph creating wind chills of minus 10 degrees below zero.
Van Wert County Emergency Management Director Rick McCoy is calling for a high temperature of 11 degrees, with winds up to 20 mph creating wind chills of minus 5 degrees to minus 15 degrees below zero.
A low of minus 4 degrees is being forecast for this evening, with winds up to 15 mph creating wind chills of minus 10 degrees.
A high of 19 is projected for Tuesday, with a low of 12, while Wednesday will see a high of 25, with light snow. A low of 17 is forecast for Wednesday evening, while Thursday should remain below freezing with a high of 30, with snow showers possible.
Friday’s high will also stay below freezing at 30, with possible snow showers, with a low of 21 that evening. Saturday will be the first day of the week at or below freezing, McCoy said, with a high of 32 forecast for the day.
