LHS choir members to perform in Cincy

Two members of the Lincolnview High School Concert Choir have been selected to perform in Cincinnati on Saturday, January 30, as members of the 2016 All-State Choir of the Ohio Music Education Association.

Nick Motycka, son of Trent and Carole Motycka, is a senior at Lincolnview High School. He sings tenor in the choir and plays percussion in the band. Motycka’s prior musical achievements include being selected two years for the OMEA District III Honors Choir. He has received superior ratings at OMEA solo and ensemble contests and was a member the Lima Area Youth Orchestra for four years. He is very active in school choir and has participated in the All-Star Choir Festival at Kent State University. Motycka can also be seen taking part in the drama productions at Lincolnview High School. He is active in BETA Club and National Honor Society and a member of the Lincolnview Junior Varsity Basketball team. He is a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

Skyler Whitaker, son of Lynn and Heather Whitaker, is a senior at Lincolnview High School.  He sings tenor in the choir. Whitaker’s prior musical achievements include being selected two years for the OMEA District III Honors Choir. He has received superior ratings at OMEA Solo & Ensemble contests. He is very active in school choir and has participated in the All-Star Choir Festival at Kent State University, All-Ohio Honors Choir Festival at Ohio Northern University, and the University of Toledo High School Honors Choir Festival. Whitaker has performed leading roles in several musicals at Lincolnview. He is a member of the Lincolnview Golf Team. He studies voice with  Dave VanTilburg of Celina.  He is a member of Trinity Friends Church.

Approximately 100 of the best high school vocalists from across Ohio will participate in the All State Choir. They will perform at the OMEA State Convention at the Cincinnati Duke Energy Convention Center.

Dr. Paul Rardin, who is Chair of Choral Music at Temple University, will conduct the choir.
