James N. Clem

James N. Clem, 93, of Van Wert, died at 1:23 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

He was born January 23, 1923, in Fairmont, West Virginia, the son of W.E. and Ocie Zoe (Bunner) Clem, who both preceded him in death. He married Jessie Irene (Heck) Clem, who died September 2, 2014.

Survivors include five children, Zoe (Terry) Longstreth of Ohio City, Duke Clem of Lakeland, Florida, Jay Clem of Van Wert, K.C. (Chris) Clem of Bradenton, Florida, and Richard Clem of Jerome, Michigan; a brother, Robert Clem of Middlebourne, West Virginia; one sister, Willa Vangilder of Fairmont, West Virginia; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A daughter, Alice Clem; two brothers, William and Richard Clem; and two sisters, Helen O’Connor and Hannah Klutka, also preceded him in death.

A celebration of life will be conducted from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, January 31, at American Legion Post 178, 631 W. Main St. in Van Wert.

Preferred memorials: Wounded Warrior Project, any veterans organization of donor’s choice, or Community Health Professionals-Hospice.
