Off Stage sets auditions for coming play

Off Stage Productions, a community theatre company providing quality and affordable dinner theatre, announces open auditions for its spring production Buying the Moose, written by Michael G. Wilmot. The comedy will be co-directed by Matt MtCastle and Dustin Manson.

Open auditions are set for Sunday, February 14, and Tuesday, February 16, at 7 p.m. at the Van Wert Senior Center, 220 Fox Road in Van Wert.

No prior acting experience is necessary to audition, and scripts are available for review before auditions at Premier Financial, 211 S. Walnut St. in Van Wert. Performance dates will be April 23, 24, 29, and 30, and May 1 and 6.

Characters for Buying the Moose include Rob, Greg (Rob’s brother), Betty (Rob’s wife), and Cheryl (Greg’s wife).

After his wife discovers him with a blow-up doll that is wearing one of her dresses, Rob is out in the cold when she, for some reason, assumes the worst!  Rob connects with his brother, Greg, while his wife connects with Greg’s wife. The result is a comedy with heart and personal discoveries.

Michael G. Wilmot, a resident of London, Ontario, is a former free-lance writer for Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show” monologue and Kevin Nealon on “Saturday Night Live’s” Weekend Update before turning to playwriting in 2007. His works have been presented in England, Canada, and the United States.

Characters can be any adult age, providing ages make sense relative to the other characters
