Evelyn Frances (Keifer) Altenburger

Evelyn Frances (Keifer) Altenburger, 95, of Van Wert, died at 4:28 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was born October 20, 1920, in Holgate, the daughter of Harry and Alta (Clark) Keifer, who both preceded her in death. In 1939, she married Harold J. Altenburger, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include six children, Kay Altenburger of Marysville, Bonny (Don) Michael of Auburn, Indiana, Susan Waltke of Fort Wayne, Indiana, James Altenburger of Van Wert, Keith (Marianne) Altenburger of Gomer, and Barry (Lynne) Altenburger of Monroeville, Indiana; a brother, Joseph Keifer of Toledo; one sister, Bonnie Jordan of Bellevue; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

One son and two daughters (in infancy), two brothers, and a sister, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, February 8, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with Father Stanley Szybka officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ottoville.

Calling hours are from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
