Putt Around Van Wert winners announced

The Van Wert Community Club announced the winners of this year’s Putt Around Van Wert event held this past Saturday.

Top honors go out to Putt Pirates team members Cole Hamrick, Jared Bourelle, Taylor Bates, and Ryan Steinbrunner, while second place went to Adam Brehm, Cody Michaud, Scott Eickholt, and Tony Honigford. A five-way tie for third place resulted in a play-off, with team Dude, Where’s My Par? members Dallas Agnar, Eddie Burtch, Danny Knapke, and Joe Dellinger clenching the prize.  All three teams generously donated prize money back to the club.

Proceeds from this year’s earnings will be used for projects involving Van Wert youths. While competition was fierce among the 27 teams competing for top honors, it was also a close race for the Best Designed Putt Putt Hole, but in the end Eickholt Farms emerged the victor.

The Van Wert City/County DARE team sponsored four local golf teams from Lincolnview, Crestview, and Van Wert High Schools. Competing for a trophy, the Van Wert team won this first year school competition.

The club thanks all golfers and participating businesses who offered goodie bags and prizes of their own and designed and built holes unique to their organization. Those include American Legion Post 178, Lee’s Ace Hardware, Fricker’s, Sears, Van Wert Bedrooms, Lee Kinstle GM Sales & Service, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, Kennedy-Kuhn, Eickholt Farms, Elks Lodge 1197, Hickory Sticks Golf Club, and Willow Bend Country Club.

The club also thanks members of Lincolnview Drama club who assisted at the various locations.
