Marion E. ‘Mary’ Winters

Marion E. “Mary” Winters, 91, of Van Wert, died at 7:55 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2016, at Van Wert Manor.

She was born October 20, 1924, in Van Wert, a daughter of Ira G. and Cora E. (Handwerk) Davis, who both preceded her in death. On June 7, 1947, she married Joseph C. Winters, who died February 11, 1969.

Mary retired from Continental Can Company/Sonoco in 1984.

Survivors include three daughters, Penelope Jo (Tim) Sutton of Riverview, Florida, and Pamela J. Becker and Paulette J. Welker, both of Van Wert; a son, Robert J. Winters of Van Wert; one sister, Helen Wahmhoff of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, Bryce (Dawn) Sutton of Monroeville, Indiana, Melissa (Michael) Burnam of Seffner, Florida, Michelle (Kent) Ransbottom of Ohio City, Amy Schimmoeller of Van Wert, Christopher (Angela) Becker of Kokomo, Indiana, Stevie Welker and Nick Miller, both of Van Wert, and Zachary (Cassity) Welker of Columbus; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, James C. Davis, Richard G. Davis, and Robert J. Davis; and five sisters, Margaret Ellinger, Annabelle Landrum, Betty Miller, Jean Sickmiller, and Janet Crosley, also preceded her in death.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements were made through Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
