Robert Gene Hartsock

Robert Gene Hartsock, 68, of Van Wert, died Friday morning, February 26, 2016, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.

He was born May 18, 1947, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, the son of Donald and Ruth (Fields) Hartsock, who both preceded him in death. On March 2, 2013, he married the former Paula Reynolds, who survives.

Other family survivors include four children, Robin (Tom) McCord and Aaron (Kelli) Hartsock, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Deann (Jeff) Daulton of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Kristin (Mike) Blochowski of Maumee; two stepsons, Jeff (Adrienne) Sterrett of Van Wert, and Justin (Kelly) Sterrett of London (Ohio); 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; two brothers, William (Chris) Hartsock of Van Wert and David Hartsock of Cleveland; and a sister, Linda (Mike) Kemper of Delphos.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the Payne Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Mike Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery near Delphos, where combined units of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 and American Legion Post 178, both of Van Wert, will render graveside military honors.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 29, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
