NOAA radios distributed
The Van Wert County Emergency Management Agency is currently distributing free NOAA Weather Alert Radios to all county businesses and churches. According to EMA Director Rick McCoy, a $14,000 federal-state grant was awarded to purchase 570 radios for local distribution. McCoy will be programming and installing the radios in the area. NOAA Weather Radios are activated by the National Weather Service Office for local weather alerts and also other emergency hazards. Shown with some of the radios are EMA Board members (from the left) Van Wert Mayor Jerry Mazur, Van Wert County Commissioner Thad Lichtensteiger, Willshire Mayor Amos Stauffer, Tully Township Trustee Rick Mollenkopf, Board Chairman Duane Poling, Liberty Township Trustee Rex Marbaugh, McCoy, and Pleasant Township Trustee Tim Mengerink.
