Delphos Postal Museum offers trip info

VW independent/submitted information

It’s the trip of a lifetime no matter what one’s pleasure. MPH Tours, the fundraising body of the Museum of Postal History of Delphos, is once again offering a nine-day, eight-night luxury excursion to Nashville, New Orleans, Memphis, and Louisville.

The tour leaves from Delphos on Saturday, June 18, and returns Sunday, June 26. Do you love music? Are you a Foodie? Do you enjoy varied and interesting places of interest? Do you enjoy four-star hotels? Do you like to gamble at five star casinos? Then this, my friend, is your tour.

2016 Delphos Museum trip artwork 3-2016Each destination brings its own style to all of these interests — Nashville has country music and the Grand Ole Opry, as well as pop music; a two-night stay at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel; cuisine of Hot Nashville Chicken and a Meat ‘n’ Three; with a musical comedy tour of the city.

Then off to the French Quarter for three nights at La Provincial in New Orleans — a city of five-star restaurants that definitely “crank it up a notch”, the home of jazz, Zydeco, and rock, Mardi Gras World, a premier World War II Museum, steamboat rides on the Mississippi River, and 25 other interesting attractions, including an exclusive half-day escorted tour of the city.

It’s just a few blocks to Harrah Casino or take a pedi-cab back to the hotel. The tour will whisk participants away to spend two nights in the heart of Memphis — Beale Street, Graceland, Sun Studios, surrounded by dozens of restaurants showcasing the blues, rock ‘n’ roll, and whatever brand of Elvis people want; succulent dry rub ribs, cornbread and beans, and a hotel that features “Happy Hours” with free drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

One night, the tour offers an excursion over to Tunica with three first-class casinos just a two-minute walk apart. But some say the tour leaves the best for last: Saturday night in the heart of downtown Louisville, sits the lap of luxury — the Hyatt Regency Hotel overlooking the Ohio River. Tour participants will melt into bed and maybe even groan when they have to rise for an amazing made-to-order buffet breakfast.

Before heading back to Ohio, the tour will take a motorized tour underground: more than 100 acres of caverns sit beneath Louisville’s expressways, zoo, and downtown, known as the Mega Cavern.

Here is what the tour provides: All transportation, lodging, attractions, tours, a New Orleans pass to nearly 30 different attractions, several breakfasts, all fees are paid, including tips, taxes, and insurance! Insurance alone could cost more than $300. All this, for just $1,598 per person (double occupancy), while those who send in their deposit of $300 postage paid by March 31 and pay another $599 by April 30 and on May 30, will get a $100 discount per person. All of the above for just $1,498 per person, and a portion of this may be tax deductible.

Keep in mind last year’s tour of New England sold out in just 72 hours, so act now by calling Gary Levitt at 419.303.5482 or Ruth Ann Wittler at 419.296.8443 and send in a check of $300 per person to: MPH Tours, P.O. Box 174, Delphos, OH 45833-0174.
