Kathleen R. ‘Kate’ (Murfield) Frederick

Kathleen R. “Kate” (Murfield) Frederick, 94, of Van Wert, died at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born April 26, 1921, in Zulu, Indiana, the daughter of Forest L. and Hilda G. (Coulardot) Murfield, who both preceded her in death. On February 21, 1946, she married Darwin R. Frederick, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include three children, Richard (Linda) Frederick and Ann (Brennan Profit) Marshall, both of Van Wert, and Joan Frederick of Homer, Alaska; five grandchildren, Ryan (Tracee) Frederick, Neil (Valerie) Frederick, Kenneth (Karri) Marshall, Dawn Marshall, and Peter Frederick; and six great-grandchildren, London, Madison, Morgan, Zach, Cameron, and Erin.

A son, Dennis Frederick; and one brother, Clifford “Pete” Murfield, also preceded her in death.

Kathleen was a stay-at-home mom in Indiana before moving to Van Wert in 1964, where she worked with her husband as co-owner of Frederick Dodge. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Stan Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

There will be no visitation.

Preferred memorials: Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center or St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
