Leon Whittington

Leon Whittington, 82, of Van Wert, died at 11:33 a.m. Monday, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born August 25, 1933, in Denton, Missouri, the son of the late Emery Whittington and Irene (Siegler) Cora. On May 28, 1954, he married the former Emmaline Gribble, who also preceded him in death on May 24, 2013.

Survivors include a son, Allen (Theresa) Whittington; a daughter, Angela Jaylene (Bruce) Albee of Middle Point; one sister, Flora Bostworth; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one step grandchild; and two step great grandchildren.

A brother, Jack Whittington, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Middle Creek Cemetery near Grover Hill.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
