Virginia P. Gunter

Virginia P. Gunter, 85, of Delphos, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

She was born March 6, 1931, in Landeck, the daughter of Oswald P. and Irene C. (Blockberger) Klaus, who both preceded her in death. On May 29, 1948, she married William L. “Bill” Gunter Sr., who died August 3, 2010.

Survivors include a son, William L. “Bill” (Kathy) Gunter Jr. of Delphos; four daughters, Barbara (Ray) Geary, Janet Klaus, Karen (Mike) Klausing, and Kimberly (Mark) Jettinghoff, all of Delphos; a sister, Shirley Ladd of Delphos; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Leroy and Paul Klaus; two sisters, Mildred Miller Ulm and Joan “Betty” Fuerst; and a grandson, Matthew Klaus, also preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck, with Father George Mahas officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at 2-8 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake will be held at 7:30 Sunday evening.
