Stephen E. Beck

Stephen E. Beck, 96, of Van Wert, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

He was born April 8, 1919, in Van Wert, the son of George and Florence (Bechtol) Beck, who both preceded him in death. He was the oldest son of 12 children.

Mr. Beck is a graduate of Van Wert High School and worked at Sterling/Aeroquip Corporation, then following in his father’s footsteps, he painted for commercial companies and individuals, spending his winter months in Arizona.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Colleen A. Beck (February 11, 2014), his siblings, Hazel Brubaker, Waneta Beck, Gale Beck, and Gertrude Washington; a grandson, Craig Aaron Beck; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Allison Beck.

Survivors include a son, Donald E. (Pamela) Beck; two grandsons, Steve and Brent Beck; two great-grandsons, Ryan and Aaron Beck; and seven siblings, Vernon, Alice, Grace, Bernice, Carl, Janet, and Joan.

There will be no memorial service, with a family gathering planned for 3 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.

Preferred memorials: Vancrest Health Care Center Activity Fund, in honor of the wonderful, caring Vancrest staff.
