Donald Joseph Okuley

Donald Joseph Okuley, 94, of Holgate, died Sunday evening, April 24, 2016, at Vancrest Health Care Center of Holgate.

Don was born December 6, 1921, in New Bavaria, to Albert and Agnes Westrick Okuley, who both preceded him in death.  On September 29, 1945, he married Marcella Wagner, who also preceded him in death.

Don was a farmer all of his life and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holgate.

He is survived two sons, Roger (Kay) Okuley of Van Wert and Dennis (Deborah) Okuley of New Bavaria; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Okuley of Waterville; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A son, Norman Okuley; and two brothers, Paul and Bernard Okuley, also preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holgate, with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Zachrich Funeral Home in Holgate, where the Rosary will be said at 7:30 that evening. 

Preferred memorials: Contributions can be made in Don’s memory to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Vancrest of Holgate, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
