VWHS lists 2016 Graduates of Distinction

Van Wert High School has chosen nine top scholars from the Class of 2016 as Graduates of Distinction. Graduates of Distinction must be in the top 10 percent of their class, based on class rank, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.85 or higher, must successfully complete a minimum of three Advanced Placement courses (six are offered at VWHS), and have no incidents of cheating or plagiarism reported to the principal’s office.

Graduates of Distinction this year include Shianne Baldwin, Jacob Covey, Cade Fleming, Domonique Grothause, Andrew Hammond, Shelbee Miller, Andrew Myers, Sandy Nguyen, and Katherine Trittschuh.
Baldwin, the daughter of Scott Kerns and Sarah Binkley of Van Wert, will major in fine arts and psychology at Miami University in Oxford.
Covey, son of Chris and Amy Covey of Van Wert, will attend the University of Toledo majoring in mechanical engineering.
Fleming, son of Jay and Kim Fleming of Van Wert, will major in communications at Ohio University in Athens.
Grothause, daughter of Maria Grothause of Van Wert and the late Duane Grothause, will major in biology at The Ohio State University.
Hammond, son of Joe and Julie Hammond of Van Wert, will attend the United States Air Force Academy and major in law.
Miller, daughter of Phil and Samantha Miller of Van Wert, will major in nursing at The Ohio State University.
Myers, son of Jim and Linda Myers of Van Wert, will attend Ohio State University and major in neuroscience.
Nguyen, daughter of Ted and Tina Nguyen of Van Wert, will attend Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis, Indiana, majoring in biology.
Trittschuh, daughter of Steve and Jennifer Trittschuh of Van Wert, will major in biology at Wright State University in Dayton.
The nine Graduates of Distinction will be honored at Sunday’s VWHS graduation with certificates and special medallions.
