4-H prepares for 2016 Chicken Barbecue

Think summer and area residents think of chicken barbecued on the grill to perfection. Carrying on with a long time tradition, the annual 4-H Chicken Barbecue will be held Tuesday June 14, serving from 3:30-7 p.m.

Again this year, the 4-H will have drive-thru or carryout options. Cars should enter the fairgrounds at Fox Road and join 4-H members at the Commercial Building. Drive on in and pick up food at the door, without even getting out of the car.

Tickets are $9 for a full meal, which includes half a barbecued chicken, baked potato, green beans, applesauce, and roll, all prepared by Chik-N House LLC. Members and volunteers of all Van Wert 4-H clubs in the county will be working to pack up meals, help those dining in, and collect tickets at the drive-through.

The 4-H Chicken Barbecue is a longtime event in Van Wert County, and one the few fundraisers the Van Wert County 4-H Council puts on. Funds from the event are used to support various 4-H endeavors, such as 4-H camp, camp scholarships, awards, and to support 4-H members at the Junior Fair.
