Two people appeared Wednesday for hearings on criminal charges in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

Zachary Schaeffer, 19, of Delphos, was sentenced to five years of community control on one count each of voyeurism, a felony of the fifth degree, and attempted burglary, a fourth-degree felony offense. Schaeffer must also spend up to six months at the Western Ohio Regional Treatment and Habilitation (WORTH) Center in Lima, earn a General Educational Development (GED) certificate, undergo a psycho-sexual assessment, and pay $633.73 in restitution to a victim in the case.

Judge Martin Burchfield also classified Schaeffer as a Tier 1 sexual offender who must register once a year for the next 15 years.

Breana Blair, 19, of Van Wert, changed her plea to guilty to a charge of abusing harmful intoxicants, a felony of the fifth degree.

She then requested, and was granted, treatment in lieu of conviction and her case was stayed pending successful completion of a substance treatment program.
