Berneice Alice (King) Davis

Berneice Alice (King) Davis, a longtime resident of Van Wert, passed away at 8 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was blessed by the company of many friends and family and was surrounded by her loved ones when she passed.

She was born February 12, 1929, in Pleasant Mills, Indiana, the daughter of John and Glennis (Rupp) King, who both preceded her in death. She was a farmer all of her life, owned her own cake baking business, and enjoyed teaching Sunday school at Bethel United Methodist Church in rural Van Wert County.

Her husband, Wilfred C. Davis, with whom she just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on May 6, survives Berneice. Their children, Charles and Deb Davis of Ohio City, Roger and Tina Davis of Montello, Wisconsin, and Lester and Cindy Davis of Cincinnati also survive her. Also surviving are seven siblings, Leonard (Marcile) King, Junior (Joann) King, Sue Braun, Terry (Shirley) King, Linda (Bob) Riley, and Rita (Ken) Johansen. She and Wilfred also have eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 4, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with Greg Wack officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Visitation is from 2-7 p.m. Sunday, July 3, and an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
