Marilyn L. Karst

Marilyn L. Karst, 64, of Van Wert, passed away at 10:46 a.m. Sunday, July 3, 2016, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born December 21, 1951, in Lima, the daughter of Leonard and Imogene (Reindel) Elwer, who both preceded her in death. She married Jack Karst, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include two children, Thomas “TJ” Karst and Jodee Karst, both of Columbus; a brother, Aloysius Elwer of Fort Jennings; and two sisters, Theresa Looser of Ottoville and Sue Lichtenberger of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Marilyn was a retired real estate agent from Straley Realty in Van Wert. She was also the former business editor for Fort Wayne Newspapers. She graduated from The Ohio State University School of Journalism. She was a member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association and was an avid Buckeyes fan.

There will be no funeral services.

Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with a Rosary service held at 7:45 that evening.

Preferred memorials: Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center or the Van Wert County Relay for Life.
